Modeling Crystal Formation Students in Earth Science learn to mimic the magma cooling process. They created crystals via a highly-saturated Alum powder solution. Alum is short for aluminum potassium sulfate. In other words, it's the pickling powder that makes pickles crispy. Notice the cool triangular-looking hexagon shape. Other sizes: Original |

The Crystalline Entity Okay, it doesn't look that scary at first, being a cubic system (Pyrite), but look carefully at the slant angles. It's becoming MONOCLINIC (Gypsum) or even worse, TRICLINIC (Feldspar), as Rosy lifts her crystalline structure mimicking that of minerals from ...Earth. Resistance is futile! Other sizes: Original |

Absolutely, Everything is Relative "Okay. One more time. Relative to the origin, it's absolute. Get it?" Just kidding, Mr. Patino! Seriously though, AVCI students like David (left) and Nancy (right) learn to use AutoCAD, the industry-standard software program for drafting. Other sizes: Original |

Packaging Experiment From left to right: Mystery Man, Mr. Liu, Jerry, Nancy, and Sammy. They are debating just how much beyond the UPS-recommended 6-foot drop test will cause damage to the edible goods inside the boxes. Fernando (not in picture) came up with the answer: toss it as far as possible down to the parking lot, which was what happened. Crushed Ritz anyone? Other sizes: Original |

How To Keep Flowers Fresh To return the favor, Sammy took this photo of Vanessa (left) and Crystal (right) while they are off guard, day dreaming about how nice it may be to receive a bouquet of flowers, or maybe they were dreaming of receiving an A for their work on keeping flowers fresh.
